29th January 2026 - The weather outside has been matching our Explorers provision recently- I think we’re going to have to ask them to order some sunshine next!  ❄️ β˜€οΈ


28th January 2026 - When you get invited in to Reception, you just have to say yes! “Mrs Culpan, come and see our abstract art!” “It’s like Jackson Pollock’s”. It most certainly is!


28th January 2026 - Forest School on Friday was great for Innovators. They were learning how to whittle and linking their learning to Egypt by designing and creating pyramids.
28th January 2026 - ome of our Pioneers did a fantastic job at representing us last week for the NWLSSP Basketball tournament, coming 3rd place! Well done! πŸ€
28th January 2026 - Our Explorers have loved sequencing the story of Lost and Found. One Explorer has then gone on to create his own penguin during provision to help bring the story alive! 🐧 🚀
27th January 2026 - Creators have been getting fired up and energetic in their PE- some excellent teamwork skills being shown during this game.
27th January 2026 - Our Explorers have been very busy in provision. Some excellent sound swapping and building words, as well as getting ready to become the best adventurers- what should we pack to help us on our way? β›ΊοΈπŸ—ΊοΈπŸ§­πŸŽ’πŸ”¦
16th January 2026 - A fantastic afternoon of Forest School for our Creators.
18th December 2025 - Oakthorpe Primary School is full of festive spirit and joy this week. With a whole school trip to Winter Wonderland, a yummy Christmas dinner and some jazzy dance moves at the Christmas parties!
10th December 2025 - Shine Star Shine - a wonderful nativity from our Explorers and Creators classes this year. They sang beautifully and projected their voices for the whole audience to hear. Well done!

10th December 2025 - A few Festive events from last week which were a huge success thanks to our wonderful staff and PAFO. Our Christmas Fayre was very well attended with some very happy tombola and raffle winners. We then had our Christmas movie night with hot dogs and hot chocolate! The children loved watching Christmas Chronicles with their friends!


28th November 2025 - A fantastic event at the NWLSSP 25th awards last night. Well done to our sports ambassadors for achieving the Gold standard, and an Equal Access School award. It was wonderful to hear about all of the incredible sporting achievements of the schools in our partnership.


11th November 2025 - Oakthorpe pupils proudly showing their uniforms as we held our two minutes silence this morning. Lest we forget


11th November 2025 - Our librarians are doing a fantastic job at rotating their book display. They asked for their own display board and have done a wonderful job with their Remembrance focus. πŸŒŸπŸ“šβ€οΈπŸ€πŸ–€πŸ’œ


31st October 2025 - A wonderful Spooky trail last week created by our PAFO (parents and friends of Oakthorpe) to support our school in raising funds. Our Wellbeing Councillors are busy gathering the views of their peers to find out how they would like to use these funds to improve our school.


10th October 2025 - What a week! We’ve had some wonderful artwork created by our Y1/2, some excellent examples of playing together during lunchtime, some very exciting activities set up by our sports ambassadors and a great time in forest school too! I can’t wait for next week to see what else our Oakthorpe family get up to. 

7th October 2025 - We are really working on our handwriting this term to make sure our work looks as good as it sounds!

6th October 2025 - Our fantastic librarians are on the ball with their displays this year. They are so motivated to share themed weeks/months and are very good at selecting a range of texts to support these.

1st October 2025 - A wonderful piece of home learning to showcase the imagery created by the author Philip Pullman in his brilliant book, The Firework Maker’s Daughter.

1st October 2025 - Our Explorers love Number Blocks and the NCETM maths is really helping them understand the importance of numbers. They can tell you lots of ways to make the number 4- some fantastic reasoning!

29th September 2025 - A lovely little walk around to see some great use of our Doodle app in Creators. Explorers listened to one of my favourite stories, ‘We’re going on a bear hunt’ and are now getting those fine motor skills nailed with cutting some ‘long, wavy grass, swishy swashy, swishy swashy’.

29th September 2025 - Our Pioneers had an amazing time at Standon Bowers last week for their residential!

26th September 2025 - Last week, our Y3 pupils went to Measham for our Rise Charter Sports event. They had a wonderful time trying out different activities and making new friends.

15th September 2025 - The best way to spend a windy forest school session is definitely by flying kites!

12th September 2025 - Our Creators had a wonderful time in Forest School today. They helped extend their learning about the local area by tidying up our forest and then created some spectacular dens!

2nd July 2025 - Explorers have had a wonderful day at East Midlands Airport today. They made sure they had everything packed, checked in properly and even got to check out air port security!

30th June 2025 - An outstanding performance of Robin Hood and the Sherwood Hoodies! Well done, Pioneers, you worked so hard and pulled off a wonderful performance.

28th June 2025 - Flashback to last weekend in the sunshine for MeashamFest. A fabulous event and it was a pleasure to walk in the parade with our incredible children (plus a couple of honourary Oakthorpe children). οΏ½οΏ½ ⭐ β˜€οΈ

11th June 2025 - Well done to our Saffron Lane team this year. You did us very proud!

9th June 2025 - Our Fathers and Special Men afternoon was a hit today. An enormous thank you to everyone who attended.

6th June 2025 - Today, Pioneers tried a new sport - Quidditch! They had a fantastic try and did a wonderful job without their broomsticks!

6th June 2025 - Our Innovators competed their DT projects this week and they did a wonderful job with their shell packaging.

14th May 2025 - Creators have been enjoying their team games this afternoon. Great to see that skill of Reciprocity being used to develop sportsmanship.

14th May 2025 - A wonderful visit from three of our Explorers this afternoon. They have been working very hard on their handwriting and have made excellent progress. They have also been writing sentences to build up the retelling of The Very Hungry Caterpillar  - fantastic work! 

9th May 2025 - Our Explorers have been loving all things nature this week with their own potting bench, phonics flowers, Eric Carle inspired art work and growing their own beans. They were doing a fabulous job counting with fish earlier, even when some swam away!

7th May 2025 - An incredible event for our Year 4s today at Rise Voices. They behaved impeccably and sang beautifully, we are all so very proud!

29th April 2025 - A wonderful celebration last week for the 100th year of our school building. An enormous thank you to everyone who came and helped us learn more about our school from a range of different times.

Friday 11th April 2025 - A great Easter trail arranged by our PAFO!

Friday 11th April 2025 - A wonderful assembly from our Innovators today. They spoke about their learning with great enthusiasm and articulation - well done!

Friday 11th April 2025 - Thank you to Measham C of E EYFS for bringing a very special visitor today! The Tiger Who Came To Tea is visiting all of the  Rise Multi Academy Trust schools. We were so pleased that our visitors came to see us and we are looking forward to taking care of the Tiger! οΏ½οΏ½ β˜•οΈ

Friday 4th April 2025 - Taste testing smoothies for their DT project today. It was a thumbs up all round for banana and apple!

26th March 2025 - A wonderful afternoon celebrating the special women in our lives. Our children performed some lovely poems, sang a special song and then invited their grown ups back to complete some crafts. Thank you to everyone who came, we really enjoyed having you!

20th March 2025 - Explorers have been refining their observational drawing and painting skills. These beautiful sunflowers have certainly brightened up a cloudy afternoon and show some great skill in printing, drawing and colour matching. Well done, Explorers!

7th March 2025 - Our Well-being Councillors completed their 6R and Learning behaviours walk this morning. They spotted their peers doing some excellent learning, great reciprocity alongside responsibility for their learning. Well done!

5th March 2025 - Book and a brioche on Wednesday morning was a huge hit! We were so pleased to welcome so many parents to this session and to see such lovely reading experiences.

3rd March 2025 - A great way to kick off Word Book Week with designing our very own book bags. Some beautiful designs to show off our favourite books!

13th February 2025 - Some amazing art work completed this week. Our Innovators were very creative with their perspective creations. Our Pioneers were challenged to really explore proportion in order to create their clay figures. We also can’t discuss art without sharing the incredible homework created by one of our Year 6 children; inspired by the Renaissance artists!
